Hannah goes the extra mile

Hannah Parry, the daughter of Keith Parry, Alpro Architectural Hardware’s Sales Director, recently competed in the Chester Half Marathon, a distance of 13 miles. Hannah decided to compete in the event after her Grandfather suffered a stroke 3 years ago, which has left him with little movement on his right side.

Hannah commented “When granddad has his stroke it obviously changed him in a big way. Strokes are an awful thing to happen to anybody, but when it happens to one of your family members, you realise just what a terrible debilitating brain injury it is. I just wanted to show Granddad that I supported him in his attempts to get better and at the same time, try and raise some money and awareness for the Stroke Association of Great Britain”.

Dad Keith said “I am so proud of Hannah, in this day and age when we constantly hear in the media of the bad press young people get it is gratifying to know that not all young people are selfish and simply out for themselves. The only regrets I have are not doing it with Hannah. The original idea was for the both of us to run, but unfortunately a last minute business trip to the Far East got in the way, (well that’s my story and I’m sticking to it). However as Hannah has told me there is always next year”.

Hannah raised £300.00 for the Stroke Association and completed the course in 3 hours 2 minutes. Hannah is currently reading English at Chester University and has just completed her second year studies.
